And the thing is the big argument in favor of Nolan whitewashing Bane and Talia in Dark Knight Rises is that “Well those are relatively obscure characters.” Which is true (at least for Talia, Bane’s been in a lot of things).

But is anyone gonna tell me with a straight face that Nick Fury was some pop culture icon before they put him in Iron Man and then in all those cartoons as a black man? 

….And it still ended up being one of the highest grossing movies of the year?
